Initial Phone Consultation
I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your situation, address any questions you have about how I work and to determine whether my approach is suitable to address your needs.
Initial Meeting (In-person Consultation)
If we agree to meet for a consultation session, we will schedule a 60-75 minute initial meeting at my office. Additionally, I will send you an intake form so that we don’t waste valuable time taking down basic information. This form is also available on my website (link here). During your initial meeting we will discuss your situation in more detail, your need for continuing services, and I will answer any additional questions you might have.
Initial Meeting (In-person) with Child or Teen
For the initial meeting with children and teens, I like for us to schedule 60-75 mins. That gives me time to bring both of you in the room together to help your child or teen to feel safe and at ease. I will gather initial information from both of you and explain the counseling process, as well as any questions you may have.
Then I will meet with the parent(s) for about 30 mins to discuss the issues that bring you to counseling and get a developmental history and background information about the child and his/her functioning.
After that, I will meet with your child/teen one-on-one for about 20-30 mins to get your child’s viewpoint of what issues bring him/her to counseling, and to establish rapport with your child. The parent will come back into the room at the end of the session with child to go over what we talked about, share any action steps, discuss treatment, and to schedule the next session.
Sessions (Adults, Children, Teens)
In future sessions we will continue to formulate a treatment plan that is based on your needs. Follow-up sessions are 45- 50 minutes.
